Large linen tea towel with monogram and red grid

Beautiful large linen napkin/tea towel in a natural shade of pure white, decorated with a delicate red grid and a hand-embroidered monogram. The material is strong, honest linen, which only gains in beauty over time. The napkin is in very nice preserved condition, with a natural patina corresponding to its age, without major damage.

The embroidered letters are probably "EP/G", a personal monogram - a very common element on French and Central European home textiles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most often these were the initials of the owner of the household, or on wedding equipment, where the monogram marked a newly formed household.

How would we use it? As a stylish napkin for a set table, under a basket of pastries, or delicately folded under a ceramic bowl. It also works beautifully as a decorative textile detail on a kitchen shelf, on a towel rack or sideboard.
