Cast iron table scale with brass bowls, 19th century
This beautiful cast iron scale dates back to the 19th century and has a beautiful, robust cast iron body, complemented by two brass bowls with a natural patina that has developed over decades of use. The surface bears minor traces of time – subtle unevenness, darker spots and light wear – but everything looks harmonious and authentic. The scale is solid, stable and has a decorative character. The scale shows its carrying capacity, however, it is harder to read, probably 1/2 kg.
How would we use it? Originally, it was used to weigh food or small goods in shops and households. Today, it is a great decorative element - on a kitchen counter, on an open shelf, in a café or in a rustic interior. Brass bowls can be used to arrange dried flowers, nuts, spices or just left empty to let the form and material stand out.
