Vintage Gien oyster tray
This beautiful oyster tray from the French brand Gien from the 1960s is made of faience, a fine ceramic that is typical of this manufactory.
The plate is shaped like an oyster/scallop and has a space in the middle that is ideal for lemon, sauce or other condiments. This makes it perfect for serving seafood, small appetizers or as a striking serving element when dining together.
The piece is beautifully preserved, with no chips, no scratches and a beautifully clean glaze. This is a timeless piece that combines functionality and decorative value and will beautifully liven up any table.
How would we use it? We can imagine this vintage tray for slow summer lunches – for oysters, mussels or small tapas, with lemon and herbs in the middle. But it would also serve just as beautifully as a stylish tray for small snacks or as a decorative element on a set table or in an open display case.
